A Mountain Maternity Session

Maternity, Photography

I will never get enough of mountain sessions, they just make for the perfect setting! This day couldn’t of been more perfect – the lighting, the leaves, everything about it – perfection!

These were first time clients – and what a pleasure it was to shoot their maternity photos and hear their story. They just moved here from France! They’re super adventurous and have fallen in love with the mountains. As soon as we chatted, I knew this location, in Kananaskis would be perfect for their shoot!

We of course had to incorporate their pup into their photos!

Whether you want a styled maternity shoot in studio, or a casual session in your favourite location – your photos will be amazing and most importantly they will be personalized to you!

Why do I love shooting in the mountains so much? The mountains offer such a stunning and unique backdrop for your maternity photoshoot. The natural beauty of the mountains can provide a sense of peace, which can help you feel relaxed and comfortable during your photoshoot!

Here are some tips to help you prepare:

  1. Choose an outfit that makes you feel comfortable and confident!
  2. Research the location where you want to take your photos. If you’re not sure where to go, ask your photographer (me!) for recommendations, I’ve got so many great spots!
  3. Consider bringing some props to your photoshoot to make it more fun and personal. Some ideas might include a chalkboard or sign with your due date, baby shoes (like in this shoot!), or even a picnic blanket to make the photos feel more intimate.
  4. Weather can be unpredictable in the mountains, so it’s important to be prepared. Bring layers, including a jacket or sweater, and wear comfortable shoes in case you need to hike to your location. If it’s raining or snowing, embrace the weather as it can create a unique and beautiful setting for your photos!
